Shaq, Kobe lead West to blowout of East

Shaq and Kobe combined for the first time since the 2004 playoffs, and destroyed the East together.

Kobe led the Western All-Stars with 27 points, and Shaq added 17 points in 11 crazy minutes. They shared the All-Star Game MVP award as co-MVP's. They are now both 3 time MVP's. "The Big Legendaries" is what O'Neal called the two when being presented with the award.

The West won 146-119.

"It felt like old times,'' O'Neal said. "I miss those times. He was really looking for me, especially when we went to a pick-and-roll and they had Rashard Lewis on me.''

I think i! t would be awesome if Shaq came back to the Lakers. It would be just like the old days. The TNT analysts were saying if they stayed together all these years, they would have rings all over their fingers- and toes.

The Eastern All-Stars' coach, Mike Brown, said they were a very deadly combination. Anyone could have noticed that.

But my personal favorite play involved Shaq, Dwight Howard, and Chris Paul. Shaq was being trash-talked by Dwight Howard at the three point line, so he threw it between his legs to Chris Paul and as Shaq rolled to the basket, Paul found him and he threw it down. See it for yourself:

Amare Stoudemire added 19 points for the West, and Chris Paul, Pau Gasol, Tony Parker, and Brandon Roy had 14 apiece.

It was a pretty close contest in the first half, but then the Western All-Stars took off and outscored them 74-52 in the second half. The Eastern All-Stars were led by last year's All-Star MVP, LeBron James, who had 20 points on 50% shooting. Dwyane Wade and Paul Pierce each threw in 18 points for the East, and Dwight Howard had 13 and 9 boards.

Here are the winners of the other contests of the All-Star Weekend:

T-Mobile Rookie-Sophomore Challenge
Kevin Durant had 46 points in a 122-116 win over the Rookies, which extended the Sophomore's winning streak to 7 games over the Rookies. Durant now holds the most scored in that game, topping Amare Stoudemire's old record of 36 that he set in 2004. The Rookies were led by Michael Beasley, who had 29 points.

Haier Shooting Stars:
The D! etroit team of former Piston Bill Laimbeer, current Piston Arron Afflalo, and Katie Smith, a member of the WNBA's Detroit Shock. They beat out the Phoenix team, who made their first 4 shots, but then missed 21 half court shots in a row. It looked like Phoenix had it, but then they blew it.

G.E.I.C.O.
Kevin Durant started out with G.E.I.C. in the H.O.R.S.E. contest, but then pulled it out to beat O.J. Mayo and Joe Johnson. Durant made a huge shot from way beyond the three point line, which was missed by Mayo. {The contest was outside.} Then Mayo made a granny shot from the free throw line, which was air-balled by Joe Johnson. But then Durant hit 2 three pointers from the corner to put it away.

Playstation Skills Challenge
The #1 pick in the draft this year, Derrick Rose, won the contest with a time of 35.3 seconds, beating out Devin Harris's time of 39.7. Cleveland's Mo Williams and San Antonio's Tony Parker were eliminated in th! e first round. Parker had the slowest time in Skills Challenge! history , with 50.8 seconds.

Foot Locker Three Point Shootout
People thought Jason Kapono could pull off a 3-peat in the Three Point Shootout this year, but were way off. Daequan Cook eliminated Kapono in the three-man finals, and then forced overtime by tying Rashard Lewis's 15 and outlasted him and won. Cook had 19 in the extra round, and Lewis had only 7.

Sprite Slam Dunk Contest
Nate Robinson and Dwight Howard made it to the final round. Howard tried some pretty funny stunts, but in the end, Nate Robinson won it all. Howard did a measley free throw line dunk, and then Robinson asked Howard to stand by the hoop. Robinson then got into his green New York Knicks uniform, which had a t-shirt over it saying: "KRYPTONATE!". Then he grabbed a green basketball and flew over Howard to win the contest. Many people pointed out that Howard was being a good sport by letting him dunk over him.

Oh, and Happy Valentines Day a couple of days ago! !
