Clowe on the Trade Block: Sather Should Inquire

According to TSN:
The San Jose Sharks are in discussions with a couple of teams, with Sharks forward Ryan Clowe the centre of trade talks.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have shown interest, but aren't willing to part with their first round pick to close the deal, while the Philadelphia Flyers have also shown interest. However, San Jose is believed to have asked for either Claude Giroux, or Scott Hartnell...a price the Flyers aren't willing to pay.

Nothing reported yet about the Rangers being interested and there probably won't be, b! ut this is the type of player that the Rangers should be making a call about. Clowe is a big boy (6'2 & 225lbs) - pretty much the reason why you know the Rangers won't look into him. While not THE answer to the Rangers goal scoring problems, he has some hands and he is the power forward that the Rangers need.

Take a look at Clowe's stats [Link]

Not sure what I'd be willing to give up in return if I was Glen Sather, if the report by TSN is accurate then the Sharks may be asking for a little too much. He's an RFA this summer after making $1.6M last season. But, it's certainly worth the phone call.

If history tells us anything, it tells us that the Rangers are far more likely to go after a little forward like Brian Gionta. [Rumor link] Which is exactly! what the Rangers don't need - another guy who's about a buck ! fity soa king wet.
